Transition Solihull - between the wild man of the woods and the wildflower lady!

Given that the fair was set up right in the middle of a vast field - shadeless on the hottest day of the year - our stall was in a really good spot - next to a lady selling wildflowers and - for a short time at least - the wild man of the woods (www.songandstory.co.uk).

I was there all morning and, although it wasn't busy, we had a steady stream of passers by to chat to.

At the last couple of fairs we'd found that without an 'attraction' people would tend to walk by (or even take a wide detour around us). This time Carol had brought bottled and tap water and we asked people if they could tell the difference. It worked brilliantly. People were really engaged, and, of course, it was a great starting point for other conversations. I'm not sure as I write how many took the test, or what the final results were. Something for another post.

We made some good connections with local people - maybe contacts to follow up if we are to going to make an impact in North Solihull. We were also able to introduce Transition Solihull to two of Solihull's Cabinet members as well as people from the North Solihull Regeneration team.

Felt like a sound start to the summer's campaigning!
