A landshare scheme for Solihull?

As Roger and Barbara (Transition Stratford) said, "this is like Father Christmas coming with a really big present..."

It started when Stratford were contacted by someone offering two acres of land for a possible landshare scheme.

It turned out that the land was very close to Solihull and that at the very least Solihull should be involved in any development. Sally, Barbara, Roger and I met the landowner for the first time last week and looked over the site. Lovely man and lovely site too - frighteningly overgrown at the moment but full of potential.

When we talked about it at the Transition meeting last week we thought that the best approach we could take would be to try to involve local people in thinking about how the land could best be used and how best to make it happen. We're starting to plan the campaign now.

I haven't given too many details because before anything is publicised we will have to finalise an agreement with the owner. So guardedly excited - but very excited indeed. Watch this space.

  2. Hi there

Lucy from the Landshare Team at www.landshare.net here. We'd love it if Transition Solihull were to be on the Landshare website with us. It's great that you've found someone with a piece of land to offer your members; Landshare can help your group find more land for other growers in the area and also promote what you're doing to a wider audience.

If you're interested just sign up at www.landshare.net and when you fill in your profile details tick the 'group or organisation' box - this will ensure you're included in a new groups feature we're about to launch that offers local groups more flexibility in promoting their work locally as well as nationally.

If you need more information or want to ask any questions, drop me an email at info@landshare.net

I look forward to hearing from you
    All the best
